Basically when people comes to term "Rooting",they found it very hard and geek thingy but the method i am going to share is very easy to follow.
P.S-I rooted my device just after the 3 day's of purchase :D
Well by rooting the device gives you some extra privileges like you can access/add/edit your inbuilt memory,move applications to the memory card,install different unofficial update',different types of rom's,overclocking,and much more tweaks you can do to your droid.
luckily, there's a software for Windows that makes rooting a one-click shot!
* Kingo Android Root. *
It's a freeware tool, and based on my some tests with a Galaxy Y, it works like a charm.Be sure to check the compatibility list before you proceed.

Steps to follow
2).Enable USB debugging mode on your smartphone. If it's running Android 4.0 or 4.1, click Settings-> Developer Options, then tick the box for "USB debugging." (You may need to switch "Developer options" to On before you can do so.) On Android 4.2 and later, click Settings->About Phone->Developer Options, and then tick USB debugging." Then tap OK to approve the setting change.
And that's all there is to it. If you decide you want to reverse the process, just run Android Root Software again, connect your smartphone, then click Remove Root. Thats it!
Please Note that rooting the device also voids its warranty so do it at your own responsibility.
Best Luck ;)
