Target Corporation is an American retailing company suffered from data breach. The company revealed that almost 70 million customers suffered from data breach, and all their address, name, phone number, and email address were swiped on the target of hackers.

The breach happened during the weeks next to Thanksgiving Day, almost 40 million customers’ credit and debit card information was stolen. The company said it would inform customer by email from its database about such attack. Target representative also appealed customers to keep away from fraud emails claiming as a legitimate source of Target Company.

CEO, Gregg Steinhafel at Target said, it was really a shameful and disappointing incident for our customers and we apologize for such data breach that took away customers’ personal information.

Target also announced that all customers would get one year of free credit monitoring service and identity theft protection who already shopped in US stores. Customers will have to subscribe within three months in this program.

Experts suggested a brief note that customers who have shopped between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15 should contact their credit card issuer company and apply for a new credit card with new account number. In addition, customers should change their PIN number and observe the account after any purchase. The good news is that if a customer is getting new debit or credit card then he or she does not have to worry about deposits and new check reissuance because the account number of customer will not be changed.

After this news, the company also suffered a great decline in holiday sales figure. The figures were drastically down by almost 6% and therefore, earnings were influenced with this attack.

However, currently Target is suffering from heavy loss, and the company decided to close some US stores in the month of May 2014.
